Alright, let me explain the reason for the above title.
The mother of my grandfather has come to stay with us in her visit to the state to do... something? In malay, there's a word for a higher generation than the grandparents which is 'Moyang'.
Btw, sorry if I'm not making any sense today. I don't know why, but my mind is pretty clouded at the moment.
Well, main point - she (Tok Nyeh)'s staying here, so I get to have an elderly being in my home. She's cool; not fussy but mellow. She has a healthy appetite - much, much, much, much, much better than the appetite of Fafrina's grandmother.
I really like old people. They're the best, second to kids.
The wisdom and knowledge they have acquired from all those years of experience, the patience and calm they have. Even if sometimes, there are some who are a little bit hard to deal with, if you can see pass the troubles, there still lies a person of age and more often than not, it warms my heart. Because I too, have had a grandma with a bit of a harsh edge. But the more I look into her actions and words, the more I realize that she is only ever thinking of others' behalf and that makes me smile.
BUT!
The problem is that I can't really find a way to start conversation, or keep it for that matter.
For now, I'm enjoying the quiet serene atmosphere surrounding the household, but I'm sure sooner or later, it would be nice to hang out with her. Though, I'm not really sure exactly how a 90+ year old woman would like to hang out.
So far, the most engaging thing I have from a conversation with her was about the Brits and the Japs and the time when the Malayan land was in its emergency state. I love talking about those, but I need to dig for more questions to ask lest this opportunity will be wasted! ><
I still haven't figured out the real reason she came here, though. Not that I don't want her here or anything of the sort. But I'm just surprised because I heard that old people did not like to travel very much, and let me tell you, a trip from Kelantan all the way to Shah Alam even makes me - a youngster - uncomfortable.
Ah, look at the time. I must go and sleep for tomorrow is Monday.
SCHOOL.
