Transcribing audio is hard..!

I've been away from the Internet for a while now because of reasons. One of them, is that I had to help my mother with a project her office handed her. Well, to be exact, they didn't hand her the project - she volunteered for it. She heard "TRANSLATE" instead of "TRANSCRIBE". The problem was that her previous tasks in things like these was to translate the audio/files, not transcribe them. In fact, she has never transcribed anything (probably) in her life.

So, burdened by the heavy task, she seeks the help of her daughter (me). Now, I was busy enough with school and co-curriculum activities and homework (which I had yet to do). I declined because it was such a drag to do something like that. But then she mentioned the pay - RM350.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a mercenary! (-ish)
It's just that with all the ACG conventions that I've discovered, I need to save up money for me to go there. This is for my passion of my objects of interest! It's a must, I tell you!

Besides, what's wrong with wanting to earn money? At least I'm doing it the legal way. And it's for a (semi) good reason.

So I took up the offer.

I thought it was a piece of cake by what my mother said. "Just write down what you listen"
But boy, was she wrong..

Transcribing audio messes your mind, screws your mentality, and ruins you in more ways than one. With some help from Musheeroom, after about 5 days of torture, the 2-hour long audio file was finally transcribed. I don't know what would happen if not for her help.

The audio had about 9 people having a discussion about car models and bla bla bla. I swear, I'm never buying any of the cars they mentioned.

I repeated the audio file so many times that my insides were bubbling and I wanted to puke. Officially. Sick. Of cars. =A=

Somewhere halfway, I got kinda lazy so I did a half-assed job and just wrote whatever I heard without caring to recheck. But towards the end, I found out that I could, in fact, download the file and play it in window's media player. That made things one hell of a lot more easier so the transcription was better then. I didn't bother to recheck, though. Because I was already two days late. But I blame that on my mother's behalf of not telling me about the deadline.

I don't know if I'm going to do something like this again anytime soon. Granted, the pay is high, but it takes precision and accuracy, commitment and dedication, focus and patience. All of which I'm not sure I posses.

BUT! There was something good that came out from all the struggle!....

I'm going to Anime Fiesta! Woot!
With the Superpass at that! ☆*:.。. o(≧▽≦)o .。.:*☆
